Coffey Construction, working on behalf of Uisce Éireann, is progressing well with the Duleek to Navan Trunk Water Main Project, including associated permanent road reinstatement works.

This major infrastructure scheme involves the installation of a new 16km trunk water main and pumping station, creating a strategic connection between the Staleen Water Treatment Plant Network (south of Duleek) and the Proudstown and Carn Hill Reservoirs, which supply treated water to Navan. The project is key to improving the resilience and long-term security of drinking water across County Meath, supporting existing demand and future development.

As part of the next phase of works, a temporary road closure is planned on the R153, from the R153/R150 junction in Kentstown to the R153/R147 junction in Navan. The closure will be in place from 7am on Monday, July 28 until 7pm on Friday, August 22 to allow for permanent road reinstatement.

Local, signposted diversions will be in operation. Access for residents, businesses, and property holders will be maintained throughout the closure, and emergency services will be able to access the route at all times. Residents along the affected section have already been notified. The R153 from Kentstown to Balrath Crossroads will be reopened before this new closure takes effect.

"This critical infrastructure will maintain supply in the event of planned or unplanned disruptions at the Liscarton Water Treatment Plant and will support development in an area that has seen unprecedented growth in recent years."
