Ward and Burke Construction Ltd has completed essential upgrade works, on behalf of Uisce Éireann, to the water infrastructure in Alva, Creegh, County Clare.
The works included the replacement of over 800m of aged water mains with new pipes, which will help secure the village’s water supply and reduce high levels of leakage in the area.
Speaking about the project, Jack Cronin, Programme Manager with Uisce Éireann, said: "We are thrilled to be completing this project, which will ensure a more sustainable water supply for the community. The replacement of these old, damaged pipes will have a positive impact on leakage by significantly lowering the instances of bursts and supply disruptions along the network, providing a more secure water supply for years to come.
"We would like to extend our thanks to the community for their patience and support as we depart for locals to enjoy the peak of the summer season, with exciting activities in the area such as the Rose of Clare."
Following the completion of the project, which was delivered as part of Uisce Éireann's national Leakage Reduction Programme, road reinstatement works will now be programmed and carried out in due course by the utility company in partnership with Clare County Council.
