Northern Ireland-headquartered McLaughlin & Harvey and fellow project partners have celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Corbiewood Primary School, a significant milestone for the emerging South Stirling Gateway housing development.

This state-of-the-art, seven-classroom facility, which is being constructed by McLaughlin & Harvey through the SCAPE Scotland framework, is anticipated to be completed by late summer 2026.

The new school, designed to be 'net zero ready', will be the first new primary school built within the Stirling Council area to support population growth since Newton Primary School opened in 1996. Located at the heart of the development site, it will also feature external sports and landscaping, with links to active travel routes to and from Bannockburn and surrounding areas. Planning permission for the school was granted on February 25, 2025. A four-classroom extension is planned for 2033/34, subject to future roll estimates.

The ground being broken at the site is a significant milestone in bringing the new Corbiewood Primary to fruition."

Children from the South Stirling Gateway will be accommodated at Bannockburn Primary School during construction. The South Stirling Gateway Development, led by Persimmon Homes, will deliver around 800 new homes, with almost 200 allocated for affordable housing.
