McLaughlin & Harvey Launch YouMatter Health Initiative

Northern Ireland-headquartered construction and civil engineering specialist McLaughlin & Harvey has officially launched its 2025 YouMatter Health and Wellbeing Roadshow.

A new branded bus is set to visit 19 different sites across the UK throughout August and September, bringing vital health checks directly to employees, subcontractors, and clients.

The inclusive and industry-leading initiative was created to overcome the common barriers that on-site workers face when trying to access healthcare appointments away from home. On board the bus, participants can access a range of services, including checks for blood pressure, diabetes, BMI, and cholesterol, as well as stress-relieving massages, mental health support, and lifestyle advice.

Alistair Lambe, Group SHEQ Director at McLaughlin & Harvey, highlighted the programme's impact: "We're pleased to be back on the road again, bringing health and wellbeing services to colleagues, clients and contractors across our sites. We have even had instances over the years where lives have been saved by healthcare practitioners onboard the bus, and the checks provided, highlighting issues that require urgent attention."

The roadshow's success is evident in the numbers from the 2024 tour, where occupational health practitioners met with 707 people, resulting in 104 urgent referrals. With the contractor set to celebrate 20 years since the initiative began next year, McLaughlin & Harvey is hoping 2025 will see the highest uptake yet. The roadshow forms a key part of the company’s wider YouMatter programme, which aims to raise the profile of health and safety across the business and its supply chain.
