A planned water outage is scheduled to take place tonight (August 6) in Cork City to facilitate essential upgrades to the water network, Uisce Éireann has announced.
The works, from the Lough to Capwell towards South Douglas Road, will commence from 9.30pm until 12.30am on Thursday, August 7, and may result in a disruption of supply for Uisce Éireann customers in Vicars Court, Vicars Road, Rose Lawn, Togher Road, Michael Fitzgerald Road, Charles Daly Road, The Acre, Marie Ville, Sarahville Place, Connolly Green, McDonagh Road, Kileenreendowney Avenue, Fr. Dominic Road North, Pearse Place, Plunkett Road, Edward Walsh Road, Patrick Trahy Road, Patrick O'Donoghue Place, Ardmanning Road, Pouladuff Road and surrounding areas in Cork City.
Uisce Éireann's Brian McCarthy thanked affected customers for their co-operation ahead of the essential works: "We wish to acknowledge the inconvenience caused by a planned outage, but these works are essential. I can assure affected customers that crews will complete the works as quickly as possible to restore normal water supply."
Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.
