Public advice sessions focused on supporting property owners interested in renovating vacant and derelict buildings across County Laois will be held later this month.
The drop-in sessions, organised by the Regeneration Section of Laois County Council, will take place at Mountrath Library from 10.30am to 1pm and 2pm to 3.30pm on Wednesday, August 20.
These sessions will provide essential guidance on property renovation funding as part of the government's Town Centre First policy, which aims to revitalise town centres and breathe new life into underused buildings.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about available grants and funding as well as the eligibility criterion for the renovation of vacant and derelict properties. Furthermore, those attending can speak directly with Laois County Council vacancy and dereliction staff about their projects.
Discussing the sessions, Denise Rainey, Town Regeneration Officer said: "Due to the unprecedented demand and interest in the clinics, we have decided to roll out additional clinics over the next six months. These clinics will be held in different towns across the county starting in Mountrath. I would encourage anyone with an interest in refurbishing a vacant and derelict building to come along and our team will answer any queries you may have."
Admission is free and no appointment is necessary. The work of the Regeneration Section is supported by the Town Centre First Policy and the Derelict Sites Act. The Regeneration Office can be contacted by emailing [email protected].
