Ward and Burke has successfully replaced over 5.1 kilometres of aged water mains that were prone to bursts and leakage along the N72, County Cork, as part of Uisce Éireann's national Leakage Reduction Programme.
As a result of the works, the local communities of Dromcummer and Cullen can look forward to a more reliable water supply with reduced levels of leakage in the area.
Marking the end of the project, Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann, Jack Cronin, said: "The importance of these works cannot be understated and form part of a significant investment by Uisce Éireann to upgrade infrastructure and provide an improved water supply to enable local communities to thrive for years to come.
"The replacement of these old, damaged pipes will significantly lower the instances of bursts, outages and leakage on the network ensuring a stronger and more resilient supply for the area. We would like to thank the local community for their cooperation and patience as we carried out these essential works."
Following the completion of the works, it is necessary to reinstate the permanent road surface, and these works will be programmed and carried out in due course by Uisce Éireann in partnership with Cork County Council.
