Contractors for the Queen's Parade regeneration scheme in Bangor, County Down, will move on site in late August to begin the next stage of works, Bangor Marine Ltd has announced.
The initial stage will involve installing security fencing at the McKee Clock Arena to allow construction of the new events space, marking a key step in the first phase of the development.
A spokesperson for Bangor Marine Ltd confirmed that the Bangor public will begin to see substantial progress on site from Thursday, August 28.
The spokesperson said: "We are now seeing the start of the rollout of this transformative project, which will put Bangor on the road to long-term and sustainable economic regeneration. We are pleased to be able to put the delays of the past behind us and move forward to recreate Marine Gardens and regenerate Queen's Parade.
"Bangor Marine Ltd is fully committed to ensuring Bangor reaches its full potential with a development that returns the city to its status as a premier coastal destination for residents and visitors. We are delighted to be making meaningful progress on the ground."
On September 5, Bangor Marine Ltd will take possession of the remaining Marine Gardens site. From this date, the Queen’s Parade car park will be closed to the public. Notification of the closure date will be provided in advance to regular car park users.
