Uisce Éireann is set to begin a follow-on phase of work this week to upgrade the wastewater network in Lismore, with the project expected to continue until the end of September.
The works are in response to additional areas of the network that were identified as needing attention.
The upgrades will be carried out by Shareridge on behalf of Uisce Éireann and will involve connecting several storm gulleys into a new storm sewer, replacing two manholes, and installing approximately 205 metres of new storm sewer. The work will take place from the entrance of the hotel carpark down to the water fountain feature.
According to David Shalloo, Portfolio Manager with Uisce Éireann, these additional works are a necessary step in strengthening the wastewater network in Lismore and ensuring its long-term reliability. He added that the company is committed to delivering the upgrades as efficiently as possible while minimising disruption for the local community.
To facilitate the safe and efficient delivery of the works, a stop/go traffic management system will be in place. Upon completion, Waterford County Council will carry out reinstatement works on the affected section of the N72 road.
