Uisce Éireann has begun site investigations in Tullamore this week as part of a major wastewater network upgrade designed to support future growth and development in the town.

The survey work, which will run for approximately nine weeks, is taking place at multiple locations north and south of the Grand Canal. Areas affected include Convent View, Thornsbury Estate, Callery Street, Connolly Park, Convent Road, Patrick Street and Main Street.

Temporary traffic management measures, including Stop/Go systems, will be in operation throughout the works to ensure the safety of the public and workers. Uisce Éireann confirmed that local and business access will be maintained at all times.

Speaking about the project, Ciaran Ryan, Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann, said: "Site investigations are a vital part of progressing Uisce Éireann projects, helping us deliver the most effective design and construction outcomes. These works will provide critical data to inform the feasibility and impact of the proposed wastewater infrastructure upgrade.

"We understand that areas of this wastewater network are challenged and are committed to providing solutions while also unlocking growth opportunities in this thriving Midlands town.

"We realise that traffic management measures may cause some disruption, and we sincerely thank the community for their patience and cooperation. We've worked closely with Offaly County Council and our delivery partners to ensure these works are carried out as efficiently as possible, with every effort made to minimise inconvenience."

The works are being carried out by Coffey Construction on behalf of Uisce Éireann.

Once site investigations are complete and the design phase has been finalised, Uisce Éireann will move forward with the necessary statutory, regulatory and budgetary approvals required to deliver the new infrastructure.
