SSE Renewables has opened applications for the latest round of its Richfield Community Benefit Fund, making a total of €40,000 available to groups across Wexford for the 2025 and 2026 period.
The fund, which stems from the company's Richfield Wind Farm, aims to share the value of renewable energy with the local community.
The funding is open to community-based initiatives located within a 20km radius of the wind farm, with priority given to projects within 5km. Initiatives that promote environmental sustainability, enhance health and safety standards, or foster community development are encouraged to apply.
Since its launch in 2007, the Richfield Community Fund has awarded over €415,000 to local groups, including schools, sports clubs and community centres. For the 2023-2024 period, €33,000 was distributed to 14 initiatives.
Pádraig Fitzgerald, SSE Renewables Community Investment Manager, said: "At SSE Renewables, we’re proud to support the communities around our wind farms. The Richfield Community Fund is about empowering local groups to lead positive change - whether that’s through sustainability projects, safety improvements, or initiatives that bring people together."
