Bell Contracts Completes New Visitor Facility At Tyrella Beach

Bell Contracts has completed the construction of a new purpose-built visitor amenity building at Tyrella Beach in County Down.

The modern facility, located within the beach car park, provides male and female toilets, an accessible WC and storage space.

The project involved the removal of the old beach building, which allowed for the restoration of sand dune habitat and supported Tyrella's designation as an Area of Special Scientific Interest (ASSI).

Bell Contracts delivered the works in partnership with the Integrated Design Team led by Gleeds Belfast, with structural engineering by Design ID and building services engineering by Beattie Flannigan.

The beach equipment at Tyrella and additional equipment at Cranfield was provided with the support of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).

UK Minister for Local Growth, Alex Norris, said, "I'm delighted that Tyrella Beach is opening its new visitor building as part of vital improvements to accessibility, helping ensure the whole community can enjoy the beach and boosting the local economy and tourism sector.

"Funding projects like this is part of the government's commitment to support local councils in Northern Ireland to create thriving communities and deliver economic growth across the UK as promised in our Plan for Change."

The new building forms part of a wider programme of works at Tyrella Beach, which also includes ecological conservation and preparations for future development. These improvements will help maintain the site's Blue Flag status and support accessibility plans, with an Inclusive Beach scheduled to open in 2026.
