GMC Utilities Group Ltd, on behalf of Uisce Éireann, has started a €22 million project to upgrade the wastewater network in North Drogheda.
The project involves the construction of a new wastewater pumping station off Twenties Lane and the installation of a 2.3km of sewer pipeline. Once complete, the upgrade will increase the capacity and resilience of the existing network, supporting over 5,000 new homes as well as local businesses. The works are scheduled for completion in 2027.
Uisce Éireann's Padraic Fitzgerald welcomed the commencement of the project: "The North Drogheda Wastewater Network Upgrade project will not only address current capacity constraints but will also facilitate planned residential development, helping to unlock housing and economic potential in the area. We are working closely with developers to ensure the infrastructure is in place to support the delivery of much needed new homes for the community."
To allow for the works, localised traffic management is in place at Ballymakenny Road, Listoke and Ashton Village. Crews are working to keep disruption to a minimum.
The North Drogheda Wastewater Network Upgrade is being delivered under Uisce Éireann's national Growth and Development Programme.
