Shareridge, working on behalf of Uisce Éireann, is progressing with vital upgrades to the drinking water infrastructure in Carrick-on-Suir in County Tipperary.

The works, which are being carried out under Uisce Éireann's National Leakage Reduction Programme, involve the replacement of 1.7km of ageing water mains, which have been prone to bursts and high levels of leakage, with new modern pipes. Over 1.1km of water mains have been replaced so far.

These upgrades will significantly reduce water loss, improve pressure, and enhance the overall resilience of the water network, serving homes and businesses in the area.

Speaking about the works, Dave Murphy, Programme Manager with Uisce Éireann, said: "We are committed to delivering a more secure and reliable water supply to communities across Ireland. These works in Carrick-on-Suir are part of that effort, ensuring fewer disruptions, improved water quality, and a network that’s fit for the future.

The latest phase of works have begun on New Street from Monday, August 25, and will be moving on to Bridge Street on Monday, September 1, where works will continue until September 28.

A number of phased road closures will take place to facilitate the safe and efficient delivery of these essential works.

Bridge Street will be closed from September 1 until September 28, West Gate will be closed from September 29 until October 3, while New Street will be closed from October 6 to October 17.

Local and Emergency access will be maintained throughout these works.
