IN2 Engineering Design Partnership has been appointed as the consultant for a series of energy efficiency upgrades at Westmeath County Council's key public buildings, including Áras an Chontae Campus in Mullingar, the Civic Centre in Athlone, and Athlone Regional Sports Centre.
The contracts were signed on September 10, 2025 during World Green Building Week.
The projects are part of the National Building Retrofit Programme for Local Authorities 2023–2025, which is 50% funded by the Government's Climate Action Fund and administered by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI). The programme aims to deliver measurable reductions in energy consumption and improvements in building performance.
Westmeath County Council and IN2 Engineering Design Partnership will work closely with Rogerson Reddan & Associates, acting as project managers, and with the South East Energy Agency, serving as Energy Efficiency Design coordinators. Together, they will develop and implement solutions to improve energy efficiency across the council's three largest energy-consuming buildings.
These projects represent a significant investment in the council's public buildings and are expected to provide insights to guide future retrofit and energy efficiency schemes for other public and community buildings in Westmeath.
