A £423,000 road maintenance scheme commenced this week in Belfast, Northern Ireland Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced.
The scheme will resurface a 0.7km stretch of Sydenham Avenue, from its junction with the Holywood Road to its junction with the Belmont Church Road.
Discussing the project, Minister Kimmins said: "This substantial investment in the East Belfast area will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users and demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network. I would like to thank the local community for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."
A daily road closure (Monday to Friday only) is currently in place between 8am and 5pm. During this period the road will be fully closed to traffic and signed diversions will be in place. Access will continue to be maintained for residents.
It is expected that work will take ten weeks to complete, however, completion of the works is subject to favourable weather conditions and the Department will keep the public informed of any changes.
The Department for Infrastructure has carefully planned these road works and associated traffic management arrangements to minimise any inconvenience to the public.
