There was roaring success for Farrans Construction, its JV partner Sacyr, Babcock and client Translink as the landmark Belfast Grand Central Station scooped Major Project of the Year at the National Rail Awards 2025.

Known as the 'Railway Oscars', the National Rail Awards is Britain's biggest and most respected rail awards ceremony which celebrates outstanding achievements across the industry over the past year, highlighting those which demonstrate innovation and deliver measurable performance improvements.

The ceremony was held on Wednesday September 17, at London's prestigious JW Marriott Grosvenor House in Park Lane.

Since opening last autumn, Belfast Grand Central has welcomed over eight million passengers, achieved a 96% satisfaction rating, and helped deliver four million additional public transport journeys across Northern Ireland.

Speaking after the award win, a statement from Farrans commented: "A huge well done to everyone involved in delivering this landmark project, a true game changer for sustainable travel and connectivity."
