Construction News Image

Work is set to begin on the extensive restoration and adaptive reuse of Letterkenny Courthouse on Justice Walsh Road, following a €7 million grant from the Town Centre First Heritage Revival Scheme (THRIVE).

Donegal County Council will oversee the project, which aims to preserve the building's historic features while converting it into a multi-use facility.

The project includes significant renovation works to maintain the courthouse's architectural and artistic qualities, while creating a visitor centre and spaces for education, arts, culture, and community use. The redevelopment will also support local residents and the wider Donegal diaspora.

Letterkenny Courthouse is a prominent heritage building with strong historical and cultural significance. The redevelopment represents a major investment in the town centre and the wider Northern and Western Region, addressing previous under-investment while safeguarding the building's unique character.
