Conneely Builders, acting as the main contractor on behalf of Meath County Council, has completed the construction of Loganstown Burial Ground in Trim.
The €2.7 million project provides 2,400 single burial plots, alongside a Garden of Remembrance with 460 urn burial plots and Columbarium Walls containing 160 niches for urn internments.
The facility includes 100 car-parking spaces, including disabled bays, internal access roads, footpaths with public lighting, public benches, and accessible toilet facilities. A caretaker's office has been incorporated to support ongoing maintenance of the grounds.
As part of the project, Local Road L-80171 was upgraded, incorporating a footpath with public lighting. Road widening and drainage works were completed along approximately 600 metres from the burial ground entrance to the junction with the R161 Navan to Trim Regional Road. Additional works included boundary fencing, landscaping, surface water drainage, an attenuation system, and associated ducting, piping, and other ancillary works.
Speaking at the opening of the facility, An Cathaoirleach of Meath County Council Cllr Wayne Harding said: "I am pleased that every element of this burial ground was planned, designed and built to provide the solemn and merited respect that the people who will be buried here deserve."
Chief Executive of Meath County Council Kieran Kehoe added: "A sombre but important example of Meath County Council's enduring commitment to provide the highest quality public service to our citizens, the state-of-the-art facilities within this new burial ground will provide the utmost comfort to families visiting their loved ones for years to come."
