Braidwater Group, a homebuilder with over 50 years of experience, has begun construction at The Cashel, a major residential development in County L'Derry.
The project will deliver nearly 2,500 new homes on land between Buncrana Road and Coshquin Road, including private, affordable, and social housing.
The development will also feature a network of green spaces, shops, essential local services, a central park, and a high street, creating a well-connected and convenient urban environment. Construction accelerated this summer following an £11 million investment in local wastewater infrastructure, announced by Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins, enabling progress across the site.
Sustainability is a key consideration for the project, with measures to reduce emissions, extensive tree planting, and biodiversity initiatives incorporated throughout the development.
Alongside construction, Braidwater Group has made charitable donations to local organisations including Sean Dolans GAC, a youth-focused Gaelic football club; REACH Across, a cross-community youth group; and Leafair Community Organisation, which supports the local area.
Darren Farnan, Marketing Manager of The Braidwater Group, said: "As a company with deep roots in this city, we're committed to giving back to the communities we work alongside. The response from local groups was fantastic, and we're proud to play our part by supporting initiatives that promote sport, youth development and neighbourhood wellbeing. Each plays a vital role in the lives of local people, and we know these donations will help them continue that important work."
The Cashel represents a major project for Braidwater Group, reflecting the company's experience in delivering large-scale residential schemes while contributing to the local community.
