The Quayside Project on North Wall Quay, Dublin 1, has been officially completed, providing new civic and recreational infrastructure to the heart of Dublin's Docklands.
The development includes a new Docklands Office, serving as a local government hub, and a Water Sports Centre designed to increase public access to the River Liffey and support a variety of aquatic activities.
The project also delivered significant public realm and infrastructure improvements. Extended pontoons along the riverfront enhance accessibility for water-based activities and provide upgraded facilities for the Dublin Fire Brigade Water Rescue Service and the Irish Underwater Search and Recovery Unit. Two engineered timber frame structures, constructed using Glulam technology, support the Jeanie Johnston visitor attraction and the Water Sports Centre, combining structural strength with sustainable design.
Riverside areas have been extensively upgraded, including an extended boardwalk sponsored by the NTA, creating a new amenity for pedestrians and cyclists. These enhancements reinforce the Docklands as a civic and recreational hub, supporting tourism, active transport, and environmental engagement.
Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Ray McAdam, officially opened the facilities, highlighting the civic and community value of the project. Speaking at the launch event, Mayor McAdam said: "The Quayside Project will serve as a hub for promoting healthy lifestyles and wellness across all ages, on and beside the River Liffey. The Docklands Office will provide an important civic presence, while the Water Sports Centre invites Dubliners to rediscover the Liffey as a space for activity, learning, and enjoyment. The Quayside Project is now officially launched, and it belongs to all who live, work, and visit this great city."
All facilities are now commissioned, with a full water sports programme scheduled to begin in the coming months.
