Construction works on Bakery Lane in Navan, County Meath, are progressing as part of the Navan 2030 Public Realm Scheme (Contract 5).
The project involves new paving, upgraded utilities, public lighting, and landscaping to improve the street environment.
The scheme is being delivered in three phases. Phase One is now complete and pedestrian access from Trimgate Street has reopened. Phases Two and Three remain ongoing, with temporary pedestrian diversions in place to allow works to continue safely.
Phase Two (CH28.00 – 55.00m) is expected to finish by Friday, October 10, following delays caused by unforeseen ground conditions. During this stage, pedestrians are being diverted through the grounds of St Mary's Parish, with access available from Trimgate Street.
Phase Three (CH55.00 – 120.00m) is now underway. Due to the same ground conditions, pedestrian access from Fairgreen will remain restricted until November 7. Diversions are again via St Mary's Parish grounds, with entry from Trimgate Street.
The pedestrian management system will continue to be reviewed and adjusted where necessary to maintain safe access during construction.
Meath County Council thanks the public and local businesses for their cooperation while these essential improvement works are delivered.
