Belfast-based construction and fit-out specialist Gilbert-Ash has delivered robust financial results, reporting profits of almost £7 million and turnover exceeding £268 million in 2024.
The latest results revealed profit before tax of over £6.8 million in 2024, up £5.3million from £1.5million in 2023. The company attributes its performance to a steady pipeline of projects and long-standing client relationships across multiple sectors.
Key completions during the year included the £24 million Loveday Dementia Care Facility in Belgravia, the £38 million, 369-bedroom Premier Inn in Paddington, and a £29 million CAT A office refurbishment at Great Bridgewater Street in Manchester. In the education sector, Gilbert-Ash delivered a new £24 million performing arts centre at Brighton College. The company's refurbishment work on the National Portrait Gallery in London also earned a shortlisting for the Stirling Prize, marking the largest refurbishment in the gallery's history.
Gilbert-Ash Managing Director, Ray Hutchinson, said: "There is no question that the past few years have been challenging in the construction industry but at Gilbert-Ash we put our faith in the quality of our work and the excellence of our people to help us navigate this period."
Looking ahead, Gilbert-Ash has a strong order book with several high-profile projects under way. These include phase one works at Epic's new campus in north Somerset and a major refurbishment of RIBA's Grade II listed headquarters in London.
The company continues to invest in its workforce through its Make Your Mark initiative, designed to recognise employee achievements and attract skilled operatives. Gilbert-Ash recently transitioned to an Employee Ownership Trust model and was named in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work list.
Sustainability remains a key focus for Gilbert-Ash, with initiatives underway to reduce the company's carbon footprint across construction, fit-out and refurbishment projects.
