NIE Networks' contractors and engineering teams are completing the final stages of electricity restoration following the damage caused by Storm Amy.

At its peak, the storm left 65,000 homes and businesses without power as high winds caused widespread infrastructure damage.

Network Operations Manager for NIE Networks, Alex Houston, confirmed all remaining properties are expected to have their electricity reconnected by the end of today (October 6). Approximately 100 properties may have still experienced outages this morning, but crews will be working throughout the day to restore service.

Mr Houston also highlighted the critical role of contractors and in-house teams, stating: "We would like to thank those impacted for their patience while our crews worked through the damage caused by the high winds. I would also like to thank our teams and contracting partners who once again stepped up and worked long hours over the weekend to ensure power could be restored as quickly as possible."

Permanent repairs will be required on many circuits, which may involve short, planned disconnections over the coming days to complete the work safely.
