Farrans Construction has commenced a significant water main replacement project in Kilteevan, County Roscommon, on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
The work will involve replacing 2.5 km of old water mains from Kilteevan Bridge to Tonleegee as part of Uisce Éireann's National Leakage Reduction Programme.
The project aims to improve the reliability of water supply for local homes and businesses while eliminating leakage of treated water into the ground. Works will be carried out in short sections to minimise disruption, with road closures on the L7098-0 and L7062-14. Diversion routes will be in place, and local and emergency access will be maintained throughout the project. Customers will be given at least 48 hours' notice of any planned interruptions.
Enda Mac Namara, Uisce Éireann's Programme Manager, said: "This essential work is part of a significant investment by Uisce Éireann to improve the water network across the country, prioritising investment where it is needed most, enabling these communities to thrive. We would like to thank customers in Kilteevan in advance for their cooperation and patience while we complete these works."
The project is expected to be completed by spring 2026.
