Dublin City Council is seeking input on the redevelopment of the Marrowbone Lane site in Dublin 8, which includes the city's largest depot in the south.
The project aims to consolidate depot operations while exploring the addition of a new multi-use sports pitch and improved community facilities.
The council is hosting an online consultation, open until October 21, alongside in-person events at St Catherine's Sports Centre on October 9 and 14, from 11am–2pm and 6pm–9pm. These sessions will allow local residents and sporting representatives to provide feedback before finalising plans.
The Marrowbone Lane depot has been operational for over 100 years, though some services have now moved elsewhere. This redevelopment presents an opportunity to reconfigure the site, maintaining essential depot operations while addressing a long-standing demand for community sports facilities. The plans will need to balance three key elements: the depot, the sports facilities, and regeneration.
The council encourages local stakeholders to participate in shaping the future of this strategic site, ensuring construction and development meet both operational needs and community priorities.
