Construction has officially begun on the much-anticipated Naul Village Park in County Dublin, with Vision Contracting appointed by Fingal County Council to deliver the project.
The new park will provide high-quality community amenities including a playground, village green and landscaped areas designed to enhance the local environment and support community use.
The sod-turning ceremony, attended by Mayor of Fingal Cllr Tom O'Leary, Chief Executive AnnMarie Farrelly, members of Fingal County Council's Parks and Landscape Department, and local representatives, marks an important milestone in the delivery of modern public spaces for Naul.
Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Tom O'Leary, said: "Today marks an exciting new chapter for Naul Village as we officially break ground on this much-anticipated park. This space will serve as a vital hub for families, friends, and neighbours to connect, relax, play and enjoy the beauty of our locality. Congratulations to all involved in getting this project underway."
Once complete, Naul Village Park will feature an inclusive playground suitable for all ages, a village green, reflection and community garden, rain gardens, a 15-space car park, and a community-use container. Additional works include new pedestrian entry points, a universally accessible route linking to the Séamus Ennis Arts Centre, and facilities such as a water fountain and rest stop for cyclists.
Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, AnnMarie Farrelly, commented: "It's hugely exciting to see work underway on this fantastic project. Naul Village Park reflects our commitment to enhancing local amenities, promoting wellbeing, and preserving the natural beauty of our rural villages. I look forward to seeing it completed."
Senior Parks and Landscape Officer, Kevin Halpenny, added: "I'm very pleased to see works beginning on this transformational project for Naul. Our vision is to create a space which is sensitive to and reflective of the cultural, historical, and natural heritage of the site. This will be a place where the community can come together and we’re proud to be playing our part in delivering it."
