BSG, the contractor on behalf of NI Water leading the Annsborough and Castlewellan wastewater network improvements in County Down, is making strong progress on pipelaying along Newcastle Road.
The work is approaching the halfway mark and is expected to reach the Burrenwood/Circular Road junction within the next one to two weeks.
As the pipelaying nears the town, additional traffic management will be introduced. The pace of work may slow where underground services are more extensive. Access to businesses and residential properties will be maintained, with traffic lights manned at peak times and traffic management removed at weekends whenever possible.
Following pipelaying over the summer, resurfacing on Claremont Avenue is scheduled during the school Halloween break to minimise disruption. A road closure will be in place between October 27 and 31. Signage will be provided in advance and BSG will coordinate with local businesses to manage access for deliveries.
This project, which will be delivered with support from McAdam, includes localised sewer repairs to address leakage and reduce the risk of blockages. The improvements will strengthen the wastewater network, reducing pressure on existing infrastructure and lowering the risk of out-of-sewer flooding.
Efforts will continue to minimise disruption and complete each section efficiently. NI Water will provide updates on subsequent phases of work as the project progresses.
