GRAHAM Building recently joined Queen's University Belfast to present a detailed case study on the Weavers’ Hall PBMSA development at the UK + IRL Passivhaus Conference 2025.
The session focused on the practicalities of integrating Passivhaus principles into construction, highlighting the methods and processes GRAHAM employed to meet the project’s ambitious sustainability targets.
Delegates also toured the Weavers' Hall site, seeing firsthand the attention to detail applied across the 16-storey, 459-bedroom development. The project combines high air quality standards with exceptional energy performance, demonstrating what modern student accommodation can achieve when Passivhaus standards are fully embraced.
Collaboration between GRAHAM, QUB, supporting consultants, and the supply chain has been central to overcoming the challenges of delivering a Passivhaus development at this scale. The team’s practical, methodical approach and commitment to quality drew strong praise from the conference audience.
Sarah Lewis, Research and Policy Director at Passivhaus Trust, noted: "On behalf of the whole PHT and PHAI teams, I wanted to express our sincere appreciation. The session was extremely well reviewed and set the perfect tone for the conference the following day. It was wonderful to hear so much positive feedback about the project across both days. GRAHAM received particular praise for their approach and for the excellent presentations from the team — a real credit to everyone involved."
