Purcell Construction Ltd has completed 32 new social homes for senior citizens at Glin Court, Coolock, Dublin 17, in partnership with Dublin City Council and Paul Keogh Architects.
The development replaces the previous housing complex on the site and delivers modern, energy-efficient homes designed for comfort, accessibility and community living.
The scheme comprises one-bedroom apartments with private gardens or balconies, a landscaped residential courtyard, and a community kitchen serving both residents and the wider area with a meals-on-wheels service. All units are built to A-rated energy standards and feature own-door access. The design follows the National Disability Authority's Buildings for Everyone guidelines, with level access throughout and fully accessible ground-floor units suitable for wheelchair users.
The development is fully occupied, with new residents already settling in. It also benefits from excellent transport links to Dublin city centre and surrounding areas, ensuring easy access to local amenities.
Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Ray McAdam, noted that the development demonstrates effective collaboration between Dublin City Council and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage to deliver much-needed, high-quality social housing.
Meanwhile, James Browne TD, Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, praised the project as an example of inclusive, accessible housing that fosters community. Mick Mulhern, Assistant Chief Executive of Dublin City Council, acknowledged the work of Purcell Construction Ltd, Paul Keogh Architects, and the Department of Housing in bringing the project to completion.
