GMC Utilities Group Ltd has begun work on upgrading the wastewater network at Tobermaclugg, Lucan, Dublin, on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
The €3 million project involves improvements to the existing pumping station and is designed to provide the capacity required to support over 14,000 potential new homes in the area.
The works, part of Uisce Éireann's national Growth and Development Programme, are confined to the existing pump station site on Tubber Lane, with advance site access signage in place. Standard working hours are 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and every effort will be made to minimise disruption.
Ciaran Ryan of Uisce Éireann commented: "We are delighted to be delivering these works for the community. These works will increase the capacity of the wastewater infrastructure, facilitating social and economic growth, including planned residential development."
Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne TD, added: "This upgrading work by Uisce Éireann will enable the potential delivery of badly needed new homes in South Dublin. Housing delivery is the top priority of this Government and this project demonstrates the investment we are making in public water infrastructure to accelerate house building."
The project is expected to be completed by Q4 2026.
