Northern Ireland Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins visited County Fermanagh to discuss key local construction and infrastructure priorities with council representatives and community groups.
Meeting with Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, she focused on investment in roads, wastewater infrastructure, flood alleviation measures, and public transport.
Minister Kimmins emphasised the importance of addressing regional infrastructure needs, stating: "Infrastructure is central to everything we do as a society, and I am determined to continue to address regional imbalance and deliver positive changes for all. I welcomed the opportunity to meet with representatives from Fermanagh and Omagh District Council to discuss a range of key issues including investment in roads and wastewater infrastructure, flood alleviation measures and public transport provision."
During her visit, the Minister also inspected the Colebrook River at its junction with Lough Erne, a location recently affected by flooding. She highlighted the ongoing work to manage flood risks through emergency response measures and proactive infrastructure maintenance, including drainage cleaning and strategic pumping, to protect homes and local communities.
The Minister also met with the Brookeborough and District Community Development Association to discuss plans for expanding community services, including the proposed redevelopment of a vacant site in the village, highlighting the role of infrastructure projects in supporting local development.
