Uisce Éireann has announced a temporary road closure on the L1013 Dunboyne Road to facilitate essential works as part of the Maynooth Water Network Upgrade Project.
The closure will be in place from Tuesday, 28 October to Saturday, 1 November, affecting the stretch of road from the R157 Roundabout to the junction with Linden Drive. Diversion routes will be clearly signposted, with local and emergency access maintained throughout the works.
The upgrade, which is being delivered under Uisce Éireann’s national Growth and Development Programme, represents a €2 million investment aimed at enhancing the local water supply network. The project will see the installation of 1km of new water mains, increasing capacity to support future housing and economic growth in the area.
Coffey Construction is carrying out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
Donal O'Connor of Uisce Éireann acknowledged the impact of the closure: "We understand that road closures can be disruptive, and we thank the public in advance for their patience and cooperation while we deliver these essential works. This project will bring long-term benefits for the community, supporting housing delivery and economic growth."
Work on the Maynooth Water Network Upgrade began in late August, with 700 metres of new water mains already installed. Construction is expected to finish by the end of this year, with permanent road reinstatement works scheduled for early 2026, subject to weather conditions.
