Uisce Éireann has appointed Shareridge to deliver a major upgrade to Lismore's ageing water mains, aimed at providing a more secure and reliable water supply for local homes and businesses.
The project, set to begin in early November, will replace almost 3km of water mains along Deerpark Road and Lismore Bridge. The first phase will take place along Deerpark Road, from its junction with Main Street towards Deerpark North, while the second phase, scheduled for early 2026, will cover the N72 from Lady Louisa's Walk over Lismore Bridge.
Dave Murphy, Portfolio Manager at Uisce Éireann, said: "These works demonstrate our ongoing commitment to providing a more resilient and reliable water supply for homes and businesses in Lismore. By replacing ageing mains, we are reducing leakage and strengthening the network now and into the future. We appreciate the continued support and patience of the local community as these critical works progress."
The upgrade is part of Uisce Éireann's Leakage Reduction Programme, which aims to improve water quality, provide a more resilient and sustainable supply, and achieve significant water savings for communities across Ireland.
The scheme is expected to be completed by early 2026, reinforcing Uisce Éireann’s ongoing efforts to modernise infrastructure and secure reliable water services for the Lismore area.
