Uisce Éireann has announced a planned water outage for customers supplied by the Goatenbridge Water Treatment Plant this Thursday, 6 November, to allow for essential upgrade works and leak repairs.
The outage, which will take place from 7am to 6pm, is required to facilitate improvement works at the Goatenbridge Water Treatment Plant and to repair leaks on the plant’s outlet trunk main.
Customers in Goatenbridge, Poulatar, Newcastle, Ballybacon, Grange, Ardfinnan, Ballyea, Roosca, Kilcommon, Jamestown, Marlfield, Neddens, Loughryan, Loughlher, Loughtally, Derrygrath, Newchappel, Rathkeevin, Inishlounaght, Nicholastown, Knocklofty, Grauige Group Water Scheme, Castlegrace and the surrounding areas may experience temporary disruptions to their water supply during the works.
Uisce Éireann's Pierce Faherty said: "We understand the inconvenience caused by an interruption to supply. Every effort will be made to limit the impact of these essential works, and we would like to thank the community in advance for their patience and co-operation,” said Pierce.
He added that it may take some time for supply to fully return after the works are completed.
"Following the completion of the works, it can take two to three hours for normal water supply to return to customers as water refills the network, particularly for those properties on higher ground or at the end of the network," he explained.
Uisce Éireann has advised customers to plan ahead for the temporary outage and assured that crews will work as quickly and efficiently as possible to complete the upgrades.
