Uisce Éireann has started a series of planned maintenance works this week aimed at protecting the water supply for households and businesses across North Donegal.
The works, which involve essential cleaning of key reservoirs, began today (Monday) at Carrigart Water Treatment Plant. Further maintenance is scheduled for Ballincrick Reservoir on Tuesday, followed by Old Carrigart Reservoir and Cranford Water Treatment Plant on Wednesday. Crews will be carrying out the works daily between 7am and 6pm.
The utility said every effort will be made to complete the cleaning programme and restore normal water supply as quickly as possible.
Speaking about the maintenance works, Uisce Éireann's Damien O’Sullivan said: "These essential cleaning works of our reservoirs are necessary to continue to provide a safe and reliable supply to customers. The majority of customers will see their water supply return within a few hours while those on elevated sites may continue to experience an intermittent supply until later in the evening while the network fully recharges, and reservoir levels replenish."
