Sinn Féin has reaffirmed its commitment to the delivery of the A5 road upgrade, pledging continued collaboration with campaigners and political partners to see the long-awaited project completed.
Derry City and Strabane District councillor Paul Boggs made the comments after a meeting of the A5/N2 Cross Border Working Group, which brings together representatives from both sides of the border to advance the scheme.
Speaking after the meeting, Councillor Boggs emphasised the urgency of progressing the project and the need for collective action.
"I restated my party’s determination to see the A5 built," said Councillor Boggs.
He pointed to the human cost of delays in delivering the road, highlighting the impact on families affected by tragedies along the route.
"The A5 road has been the scene of heartbreak and tragedy far too often, leaving families across the island devastated.
"We must all rally behind the community and those who have lost loved ones and work together to deliver this road.
"Sinn Féin will continue working with campaigners, other parties and the Infrastructure Minister to ensure this vitally important project is finally delivered."
