Uisce Éireann has completed the replacement of more than one kilometre of water mains on Fair Street in Mallow, Co Cork, following an investment of almost €2 million.
The upgrade introduces larger, modern pipes to boost capacity, cut leakage and bursts, and underpin future growth in the town, including the potential delivery of 130 new homes.
James Browne T.D., Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, welcomed the project’s completion. He said: "The completion of this €1.9 million upgrade project is very welcome news for the community. Investment in water infrastructure that provides additional capacity brings tangible benefits to towns such as Mallow by supporting the delivery of new homes and local growth."
"Continued investment in public water services is essential to facilitating housing delivery. That is why in the recent Budget we have increased Uisce Éireann’s funding by almost €500 million for 2026 – money that will accelerate the delivery of water infrastructure and support the development of new homes across the country."
The works were delivered by Ward and Burke Construction Ltd on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
