GRAHAM Wins £142.1m Deal To Upgrade Edinburgh Defence Sites

NI construction company GRAHAM has been appointed by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) to deliver a £142.1 million programme of upgrades across three Army locations in Edinburgh — Dreghorn Barracks, Glencorse Barracks and the Colinton Road Reserve Centre.

The scheme sits within the Defence Estate Optimisation (DEO) Portfolio, a £5.1 billion investment aimed at providing modern, sustainable infrastructure that supports future operational needs and improves the experience of service personnel. GRAHAM will deliver a mix of new buildings and refurbishments across all three sites.

At Dreghorn Barracks, the works include new Single Living Accommodation (SLA), training facilities, an armoury, garages and a band facility, alongside refurbished offices and stores.

At Glencorse Barracks, the programme provides new SLA, offices, stores and an armoury, plus a pony stable and paddock. Investment at the Colinton Road Reserve Centre will deliver a new guard house as well as catering, garaging, stores and offices.

Warren Webster, DIO MPP (Major Programmes & Projects) Programme Director – Army, said: "The award of this contract marks the start of a programme of significant investment and improvement to the Army's sites in Edinburgh. Once complete, these projects will improve the living, working and training environment for our soldiers based at these sites and we’re excited to get started."

Chris MacLeod, Regional Director, GRAHAM Building said: "As a proud and experienced partner of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, we are honoured to anticipate the commencement of the Edinburgh Garrison redevelopment and modernisation. This timely project, announced within the month of Remembrance, pays tribute to the unwavering dedication and sacrifices of our armed forces, transforming a storied military site into a modern legacy that honours their service while fostering resilience for generations to come."

Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2027 following ongoing design and development work.
