Solarfix, a fast-growing solar installation firm in Northern Ireland, has completed another phase of work at the internationally renowned Royal Portrush Golf Club.
Michael O'Donnell, managing director of Solarfix, said: "To be selected once again by one of the most prestigious and historically significant golf clubs in the world speaks volumes about the trust Royal Portrush place in our expertise."
The latest project spans four bespoke systems designed to meet the needs of different facilities across the site, with installations at the main clubhouse, the ladies' clubhouse, the starter hut and the greenkeepers' shed. Together, they form one of the most comprehensive solar rollouts at a golf venue in Northern Ireland.
In total, the installation comprises almost 230 high-spec panels, paired with Solis and SolarEdge inverter technologies, and is expected to generate more than 85,000 kWh of renewable electricity each year.
Danny Campbell, general manager of Royal Portrush, said: "At Royal Portrush Golf Club, we take great pride in maintaining the highest standards across every aspect of our facilities. Working with Solarfix has been an outstanding experience from start to finish. Over the past two years, their team has installed four solar systems across our Clubhouse, Ladies Clubhouse, Greenkeepers Shed, and Starter Hut, each tailored perfectly to our needs. Each project was delivered with exceptional professionalism, technical expertise, and meticulous attention to detail, which is why we've continued to return to Solarfix every time."
O'Donnell added that the repeat commission underscores both the club's confidence and its environmental ambitions: "For Royal Portrush to select Solarfix to design and install not just one, but four independent systems speaks volumes about the confidence they have in our expertise. It also demonstrates the responsibility Royal Portrush takes towards its environmental obligations. This system not only helps Royal Portrush reduce costs but also generate carbon savings of around 15 tonnes per year."
Campbell praised the delivery and impact of the work: "The entire process was seamless, and the results speak for themselves, delivering significant environmental and operational benefits while aligning perfectly with our long-term sustainability goals. We are absolutely delighted with the outcome and would not hesitate to recommend Solarfix to any organisation seeking excellence in solar energy"
The collaboration is being held up as a template for other sporting venues considering clean energy solutions. Solarfix said the Royal Portrush scheme illustrates its in-house design, engineering and installation capability, and its approach to producing building-specific, tailored systems rather than off-the-shelf designs.
