Safety Reboot 2026: CEF Announced Focused Health And Safety Initiative

The Construction Employers Federation's (CEF) annual health and safety initiative, Safety Reboot, is returning in January 2026 to kickstart the new year with a renewed focus on site safety.

This vital, industry-wide initiative encourages every member of the construction sector to dedicate approximately fifteen minutes once a week throughout January to refocus on critical health and safety priorities.

The centrally provided Safety Reboot resources have historically proven highly effective, acting as a timely refresher on crucial risks to re-engage staff immediately following the Christmas break and properly prepare them for the working year ahead.

Focused Weekly Themes for 2026

New for the 2026 campaign, the CEF Health and Safety Committee has structured the weekly safety stoppages around focused themes to ensure maximum impact during the month:

• Week 1: Focuses on Site Re-induction.

• Week 2: Dedicated to Working at Height.

• Week 3: Addresses Mental Health and Wellbeing.

• Week 4: The theme is Your Company: You Choose, giving individual businesses the crucial opportunity to select one of the remaining core topics most relevant to their specific operational needs.

The initiative retains 11 core topics, which the Health and Safety Committee considers the most significant areas of focus for the construction industry. All resources have been reviewed and refreshed by the committee to ensure they reflect current best practice.

For ease of access on site, all resources will be shared on the CEF website, supported by QR codes for instant mobile access, and complemented by additional eye-catching posters to maintain visibility of #SafetyReboot2026 across sites throughout January.

Jonathan Caughey, Federation Manager at the CEF, commented on the initiative: "We are really excited that the industry will be again joining us by getting involved in #SafetyReboot2026. Health and safety is such an important part of every day on construction sites across Northern Ireland. Safety Reboot gives the industry the opportunity to demonstrate its commitment by reminding staff and the wider supply chain of the key messages to keep themselves and their colleagues safe and healthy. Use the resources provided and don't forget to share how you get involved across social media using the hashtag #SafetyReboot2026".
