ESB Networks Welcomes CRU's PR6 Final Determination

ESB Networks has welcomed the Commission for Regulation of Utilities’ publication of the Final Determination for Price Review Six (PR6) on 16 December 2025, following an 18‑month engagement process.

PR6 represents the largest investment in Ireland's electricity network to date, encompassing more than 500 major capital projects designed to meet rising electricity demand.

The investment programme is intended to support key Government policy goals, including Delivering Homes, Building Communities: An Action Plan on Housing Supply and Targeting Homelessness 2025-2030, as well as the National Planning Framework, the National Development Plan and the Climate Action Plan.

Building on Price Review 5 (PR5), ESB Networks says PR6 will accelerate progress achieved to date, which includes the connection of over 186,000 homes, farms and businesses, the addition of 2.1 GW of utility‑scale renewable generation, and the installation of over 1.8 million smart meters.

Nicholas Tarrant, ESB Networks Managing Director, said: "The final determination endorses the scale of ambition put forward by ESB Networks in our PR6 Business Plan. It will help pave the way for a more resilient, reliable and sustainable energy future for Ireland, supporting housing, jobs and climate action. We look forward to working in collaboration with our stakeholders, industry colleagues and all of society to deliver this historic and transformative investment in Ireland’s future."
