GRAHAM Secures £59m Loughborough Student Project

NI construction firm GRAHAM has been appointed to deliver a new £59 million student accommodation scheme at Loughborough University, following the granting of planning permission by Charnwood Borough Council.

The development will create 552 new student bedspaces across five purpose-built accommodation blocks of up to six storeys. Set within landscaped grounds, the scheme will feature a shared plaza and landscaped square, alongside dedicated amenity areas, sub-warden accommodation, a new plant block, utilities infrastructure and associated external works.

Located in the Central Park area of the East Midlands campus, close to the Edward Herbert Building, the new Hall of Residence is designed to address increasing demand for high-quality, self-catered, en-suite accommodation. The scheme places a strong emphasis on enhancing the student experience, with generous shared study and social spaces informed by student feedback highlighting the importance of convenience and community when living on campus.

Graham Howard, Director of Estates and Facilities Management at Loughborough University, said: "We are delighted to be working with GRAHAM on our new accommodation development. We know that being able to live on our campus is hugely important to our students, and the new hall will help us to meet the increasing demand for high-quality living accommodation that is an integral part of the overall student experience we offer."

Ronan Hughes, Regional Director at GRAHAM, said: "We're proud to be working with Loughborough University on this major new accommodation project, which will provide a first-class living environment for students and contribute to the continued growth of the University's campus. Our team is focused on delivering a high-quality development that supports the University's long-term accommodation strategy and improves the overall student experience."
