Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Mary Linehan Foley, has welcomed the allocation of €900,000 in funding for four major projects under the 2025 Town and Village Renewal Scheme (TVRS).
The investment is aimed at revitalising town centres across rural Cork by boosting local economies, tackling dereliction, supporting tourism and creating more vibrant community spaces.
The funding will support initiatives designed to increase footfall in towns and villages, improve public infrastructure and enhance outdoor and shared community areas.
Under the allocation:
Passage West will receive €300,000 for improvement and remedial works at the Passage West Community Centre, including energy efficiency upgrades.
Rathcormac has been awarded €300,000 to develop a new village centre plaza, with enhanced streetscape and landscaping at the junction near the Rathcormac Inn, creating a new focal point for the village core.
Youghal will receive €250,000 for weather slating and window works at the historic Youghal Clock Gate Tower.
Mitchelstown has been allocated €50,000 under the Project Development Measure to support plans for the renovation of the derelict FCA Hall and adjoining walled courtyard into a community hall, outdoor recreation space and garden.
The projects form part of a broader strategy to rejuvenate Cork's towns and villages and strengthen rural communities throughout the county.
