EirGrid has announced the successful completion of essential maintenance and upgrade works on the Kilbarry Marina 110 kV overhead line double circuit.

As a vital component of the high-voltage network, this infrastructure is responsible for the bulk delivery of electricity to Cork city and its neighbouring areas.

The comprehensive refurbishment programme involved a variety of structural and technical improvements designed to extend the operational life of the double circuit. Key tasks included the replacement of essential hardware, steel components, platforms, and access ladders. Furthermore, the project involved foundational reinforcements and the repainting of the transmission towers.

By modernising these assets, the project plays a crucial role in futureproofing the local energy system, ensuring that households and businesses across Cork continue to receive a dependable and consistent power supply.
