Uisce Éireann has announced a programme of works to replace more than 2.6km of ageing water mains between ardloman reservoir and mount bruis as part of ongoing leakage reduction efforts.
This follows the recent replacement of over 5.3km of mains between Ardloman Reservoir and Shronell.
Dave Murphy, Portfolio Manager with Uisce Éireann, said: "Replacing these old and damaged pipes will significantly lower the instances of bursts and outages on the network that are currently impacting the local community, eliminate existing leaks and reduce the amount of clean water lost into the ground. The works will also improve the operation of the network by reducing the need for frequent repairs to aged watermains.
"These improvements are crucial for supporting communities in this part of Tipperary to thrive and will ensure a more resilient water supply for years to come. In advance of the works commencing, we would like to thank the local community for their support and patience as we carry out these essential works."
Uisce Éireann says the investment will strengthen the Galtee Regional Water Supply Scheme, delivering a more secure and robust service for customers. The sections being upgraded have caused multiple recent supply disruptions, with a marked reduction in bursts and outages expected once works are complete.
Separately, a further 6.2km of water main has recently been replaced between Thomastown and Ballymacaddy, also within the Galtee Regional Water Supply Scheme.
The utility acknowledges that construction can be inconvenient and may temporarily affect supply during delivery. Crews will work to minimise disruption where possible.
Shareridge is undertaking the programme on behalf of Uisce Éireann, with completion expected in spring 2026.
