McAleer & Rushe Backs Annual CEF Construction Safety Reboot

The Construction Employers Federation (CEF) has officially launched #SafetyReboot2026, a month-long initiative designed to reinforce health and safety standards across the industry.

Throughout January 2026, construction companies are being encouraged to pause site operations for approximately fifteen minutes once a week to facilitate dedicated discussions on essential safety priorities.

The initiative, now in its sixth year, aims to foster direct interaction between the workforce, sub-contractors, and management to share experiences and strengthen safe working practices on-site.

McAleer & Rushe, a long-standing supporter of the campaign since its 2021 inception, has confirmed that all its projects across the UK and Ireland will participate. The contractor is also actively encouraging its sub-contractors and wider supply chain partners to join the initiative, ensuring a unified approach to safety.

The CEF Health & Safety Committee, chaired by Declan McLogan, Director of SHEQ at McAleer & Rushe, has structured the month around four specific weekly themes:

• Week 1: Site Re-induction

• Week 2: Working at Height

• Week 3: Mental Health and Wellbeing

• Week 4: Company-specific topic (utilising one of 11 core available themes)

Jonathan Caughey, Federation Manager at the CEF, commented: "We are really excited that the industry will be again joining us by getting involved in #SafetyReboot2026. Health and safety is such an important part of every day on construction sites across Northern Ireland. Safety Reboot gives the industry the opportunity to demonstrate its commitment by reminding staff and the wider supply chain of the key messages to keep themselves and their colleagues safe and healthy."

The campaign provides resources intended to trigger meaningful conversations regarding daily site hazards, ensuring that safety remains the primary focus as the industry returns to full capacity in the new year.

Resources, including question packs and discussion aids on each topic, can be found on the CEF website: #SafetyReboot2026 Resources CEF
