Water supply has been restored to customers in Newtownmountkennedy after crews completed complex repair works in the town.
Daniel Kennedy, Uisce Éireann Water Operations Manager, thanked customers for their patience during the disruption. "Uisce Éireann acknowledges the inconvenience caused by the interruption to the water supply throughout the day and sincerely thanks our customers for their patience and cooperation while these essential repair works were carried out.
"This was a complex burst on a busy route and crews on the ground worked hard throughout the day and night to minimise the number of customers affected by the burst and to restore supply as quickly and safely as possible."
Following any repair, it typically takes three to four hours for normal service to return to all impacted customers. Those at the extremities of the network or at higher elevations may experience longer delays as the system recharges.
Vulnerable customers registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct updates during planned and unplanned outages exceeding four hours.
Uisce Éireann provides updates 24/7 across multiple channels. Customers can check the website, follow X accounts @IWCare and @IrishWater, or call the customer care helpline on 1800 278 278, which operates around the clock.
