Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has confirmed that work has begun on a £662,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme on the A512 Creighton Road in Belfast.
The scheme covers approximately 1.1km, stretching from the Old Golf Course roundabout to beyond the existing signalised pedestrian crossing on Creighton Road.
Minister Kimmins said: "This substantial investment of £662,000 for West Belfast will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users who travel through this area and demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."
To deliver the works, full road closures will be in place across four weekends.
The first weekend closure ran from from 7.00 pm on Friday 30 January until 6.00 pm on Sunday 1 February 2026.
Three further weekend closures are scheduled for 6 to 8 February, 27 February to 1 March 2026 and 6 to 8 March. On each of these weekends, the road will be shut from 7.00 pm on Friday until 6.00 pm on Sunday.
Weekday lane closures will also operate Monday to Friday between 9.30 am and 4.30 pm for the duration of the scheme, starting on Thursday 29 January 2026.
During closures, a signed diversion will operate via Stewartstown Road, Upper Dunmurry Lane and Old Golf Course Road. Drivers are asked to follow temporary traffic management and take extra care near the works.
The Department has scheduled operations and traffic management to reduce disruption where possible, but some delays are expected. Road users should allow additional time for journeys and adhere to all temporary restrictions.
Subject to favourable weather, the project is expected to finish by Friday 13 March 2026.
