Amid rising energy costs and environmental concerns, Donegal County Library has unveiled its new Get Smart About Energy guide.
Written in clear, accessible language, it explains how to use the library’s Home Energy Saving Kits.
The award-winning kits are available to borrow free of charge from libraries across Donegal, helping householders take control of their energy use with potential bill reductions of up to 20%. Each kit includes practical tools focused on space heating, hot water and electricity consumption. Kits are free to library members for a one-week loan. Residents can contact their local branch or visit donegallibrary.ie to reserve a kit.
The Get Smart About Energy guide also highlights Donegal County Council’s North West Energy Agency, a one-stop shop that supports homeowners and business owners in improving the energy efficiency of their properties.
The guide will be launched at Buncrana Community Library on Tuesday 10 February at 10:30am, followed by a demonstration and practical tips on using the equipment. All are welcome. Further workshops will take place in Ballyshannon (11 February, 3pm), Twin Towns (13 February, 11am), Letterkenny (19 February, 6pm) and Gaoth Dobhair (4 March, 6pm).
